Input on an 02 housing on a IX

OK I have been to a bunch of shops around my area and I keep getting different answers. Any IX owners with stages I-III please chime in. Half of the shops say put the 02 housing in the other half says its not worth it. I already have a helix 02 housing. I just haven't put it in yet. So I would like some input from IX owners that have done this to tell me what they think about the 02.

I've heard that the O2 shows more gains on the IX than the VIII, but I"m not sure how reliable the information is. Go for the aftermarket though ... smoothing the collision with the WG dump has to make a difference, whether you can feel it or not. It will show on the dyno.

the best thing you can do for your engine is let it breath

it also depens on the future plans for your car, if your gonna be doing a turbo upgrade, most will come with or require a new o2 housing so keep it in mind

Kreionic, I can't imagine any shop with half a clue saying not to install that. Whoever says that has very little clue about the Evo, imo. It also means they haven't seen the back-to-back dyno testing of that o2 versus not only stock but other aftermarket housings that cost way more. It won in every scenario.

And especially, if you already have, I can't even imagine asking us if you should put it on. If you didn't have it, we'd say to buy it, but when you already have it, it's a no-brainer. I would almost bet that one of the shops that said it's not worth robably believes it's worth it for you to buy a $400 tubular manifold, too, instead of porting the stocker for less than half the price.

Bump for 02 Housing gains on a IX. Anyone know specificially what to expect? Just a small bump throughout the range or on throttle response?

Personal experience, I have the Helix o2 housing on my IX, we dyno'd before and after no other changes to the car and no tuning for the 02, just dyno, bolt on, dyno, we saw an 8ft-lb peak tq increase, no increase in peak power, and about 200-300 rpm lower spool up point when comparing boost graphs. This was on a mustang dyno and the car already had test pipe/cat back helix exhaust. Bottom line, better spool, better lowend.midrange tq. I have never experienced boost creep or any other problems and I run a Hallman MBC. Hope this helps

Would these be similar between the Helix Housing and the Ebay housing?

Get the eBay O2. You can find them for as little as $30.

EDIT - N/M, saw you got the Helix... put it in. If a shop is telling you it's not worth it then they're full of **** and shouldn't speak of Evo's.

what about the Invidia 02 Housing? Same idea? Same construction as the helix and ebay?

I've decided there is no point to the WORKS housing, despite it's superior cast construction, it looks like the other housings bolt up just fine. . .

my ONLY hesitation with the aftermarket is that you loose that factory support bolt that straps the O2 housing to the block.
