help!!! NEED TO KNOW WHAT CLUTCH TO GO WITH!!
Better then an ACT clutch. Remember that a stock clutch can hold up to 400whp. The stock Clutch is a EXEDY ORGANIC. I seen a vendor that was selling a stock clutch The stats said that it will hold 400 WHP.

This is the setup that i want to get for my car probably along with the pro-lite flywheel. I think price-to-performance is unbeatable!
Now about the stocker...i have 5350 miles on the clutch. MANY highway miles, launched only once, but now with the 337/342 on a DD it cannot hold the abuse, leave alone if i use the high boost (373/422) with C16 mixture... The stock is good but at these power levels there is no way to hold with hard driving...
Its o.k. Ime at 459 to the wheels and can burn the he!! out of it if ime not carefull. Had to really adjust the pedal cause of the famous ACT lockout. If i could do it again, i would have went Exidy twin. I have installed 20 or so clutches, and those twins are all i recomend for over 400hp and a stock/exidy race(silver pressure plate/organic disc) for under. Tiltons have been fixed and are nice pieces. Hard to install however. Exidy singles(1/2 of the twin) for $900 are a waste. ATS carbon/carbon...$$$$$$. Bottom line.....twin or oem.............ray
I'm not close off your torque and so far the excedy stage 1 is doing fine with one launch, and that was for $350. I admit I did cut it close but it was purely economical
Also keep in mind the higher the torque and lower the rpm - the stronger your clutch needs to be

there is a vast difference between the exedy OEM organic clutch and the exedy stage 1 organic clutch. they look almost the same, but hold different levels of power. i'm thinking the vendor had the exedy stage 1 organic clutch for 400whp.
Good luck with your search! I got ACT 6 puck sprung and am loving it so far
. This topic has been covered hundreds of time so you might want to do a search. One thing that you need to keep in mind is there's always pros and cons on which clutch that you pick. For example,
ACT HDSS
Pros: The most popular clutch under a $1000, rated for 400+ HP
Cons: Lockout issues and needing adjustments frequently (ask TTP and ACTman why!)
Exedy HD
Pros: The most popular clutch over a $1000, rated for 600+ HP, somewhat easier to drive and quieter compared to the SD version
Cons: It's still noisy
, you'll end up paying almost 2 grand with cost of install
Tilton Twin Carbon/Carbon:
Pros: Probably the most popular clutch over $2000, rated for too many horses
Cons: It's more than 2 g damnit!!!
Another alternative is to wait for a good deal for a used twin plate clutch and have it rebuilt. Sometimes people sell their used twin plate for around 300 dollars. The cost of a rebuild is probably around 500. So you get the best of both world. Under 1 g for a twin plate
