ingalls torque dampener leaking
While, I do understand how frustrating it can be when a product fails, I am here to try and help (read: Mod Staff I won't promote product, we don't sell direct to the public, but I just would like to help those currently using our product). My name is Dan, I work for Ingalls Engineering in Louisville, CO I can be reached here, via email at DanJ@IngallsEng.com or by phone 800.641.9795. I understand that your damper is leaking fluid? I say fluid, because our damper works off of rubber damping, not oil. If your damper is leaking oil, fluid, or water I can only think that the body of the damper collected moisture and is now getting rid of it. Therefore, any fluid leaks from our product are not of any real concern.
On to the clicking or popping issue. As the temperture changes the rubber inside the housing contracts and allows for a looser tolerance between the plunger and the rubber supports. Typically after the engine warms up this is resolved on it's own. But, the preload may need to be increased (read: go from 14mm preload to 12mm) to compensate for the climate change. Shoot me an email if you are still experiencing issues after changing the preload.
Thanks,
Dan

good to see a company paying attention to their customers and market and providing good customer service like this. I have a "stiffy")
and will probably also be geting a poly bushing or replacement mount.

Fluid dampers of the proportions we're dealing with/limited by are too small to effectively reduce engine movement. Some small gas filled shocks could keep up with the constant load, but could never handle the extreme spikes in force. Rubber or Polyelastimers are the only way to effectively limit engine movement via a damper without creating tremendous amounts of vibration passed through to the chassis.
Thanks guys for the warm welcome, but my job is to make sure customer issues get resolved. Sometimes that means going to you, instead of you coming to us (although we welcome direct customer contact as well). So feel free to shoot me an email, phone call, whatever...I'll try and get back to you as soon as possible. I'll also be lurking and when people have concerns or issues I'm going to make it my goal to be there for those users too.
