HKS SSQV Question

Which BOV will fit? I have several answers from different places. Some says there will be a HKS BOV specially made for the Lancer Evolution 8 but some says that the 2G fits on the Evo 8. Which is it?

I have the kit designed for the Evo 7. Every thing fits except the bracket wich I did not use any way (I am not venting to atmosphere). I originaly had it venting, but the car ran rich when I shifted, so I got the recirc fitting. The main resaon they say the 2G kit will work is because it comes with the proper flange (It's just a flang welded to a pipe that can fit it to a hose) and the recirc fitting.

If I could do it all over again I would buy the 2G kit.

So depending on if you want to VTA or not:
Evo VII kit = VTA
2G DSM kit = Recirc

This should save you some money doing it right first.

I ordered an HKS SSQV from 935 motorsports which they claim they made specifically for the Evo 8, but I haven't received it yet so I'll let you know. People here have mostly been using the 2g dsm kit, but I believe EvoJimbo has been using the Evo7 kit and has had absolutely no problems with it venting to air . I plan on venting to air (sorry, I just like the sound; can't help it ) and there've been far too many people VTAing without problems, I think everybody can do it with the proper adjustments.

Recirc will make absolutely no noise? I would like to VTA since I love the sound as well. Which set up and what should I buy for that *Swoosh* sound but I do not need a particularly loud noise. If recirculation makes the noise as well but softer, it'll do. I'm new to turbos.

Based on past threads recirc will make noise only if u have an open air intake. Otherwise it wont be loud enough to notice.

How did you get around the radiator hose when you recirculated using the 2G kit? Did you just push it aside and squeeze everything in? Also, i've noticed the 2G recirc adpater is a bit too small in diameter when you attach it to the turbo inlet pipe....how did you get around that?

Thanks in advance!

PS - I can get anyone a good deal on the HKS BOV.....probably less than anyone in here since I have little or no overhead.

So what is the diff in sound between the HKS SSQBOV that recirc(with open air intake) and one that is VTA? Is VTA louder and more sharper than one that recirc or would it sound just the same?

i had the VTA SSBOV, but just installed the recirculating kit.... the car runs much better now(no bogging or crpm drops), but the BOV is MUCH quieter...

Obviously with stock intake, recirculating is going to be completely silent for all intents and purposes and VTA will obviously be loud, however, with an open intake, the recirculating valve should be quite loud, though still not quite as loud as VTA.

Here is a picture of the proper "flange". Note that this is no cheap welded flange. This is the HKS flange that converts it to a 1" tube style fitting. HKS does not sell this separately as far as we know.

We do let these go separately by special request.
