Make sure your EVO's shipping blocks are not still installed in the front struts my (censored) dealship never removed mine when they supposidly did their initial inspection on the car.

Actually I itnhk what you are hearing is the loud stock tires, they have a lot of road noise, i've noticed mine hum around turns when i don't use the brakes and when i'm breaking at slow speeds to a stop i've heard the same noise.

after i first posted i went for a ride. i paid special attention to turn in noises. i did hear the rubbing sounds as described. as !QWKEVO thought i think as well. it sounds similar to the loud brake noise but is most likely loud road noise from the tires gripping.

Someone posted a pic of them a few days/weeks back ? I tried a quick search but couldn't find it again. As they say a picture speaks a thousand words.

Mine are out in the garbage but I can go get them and post later.

They are 6 inch pieces or solid rubber that are located on the inner side of each front strut assy. The middle of the black wraps around one coil and the block extends to the next upper and lower coil. They are suppose to be removed durring the initial inspection when your car comes off of the truck to the dealership. I ran 2100 miles on my car before noticing them still in there, i'm really mad... I should keep them and lower my car and when I do end up breaking something take the car back in with shipping blacks and tell them those where in there since i bought the car, how else would I get ahold of something like that.

I'll post a piture tonight if I still ahve the blocks

No rubing sounds, as in something rubbing against the car, but sometimes there is a scrubbing sound from the soft tires gripping the road surface. This is common in many cars running extreme performance tires.

have same sound.. I don't "feel" anything, just hear it, yeah, same sound as the brakes, that low rub/grind type noise. At first was concerned. Thought maybe the pads were rubbing when I trurned or something... but could not FEEL anything, and that would probably make a squeel or squeek or something. Actually had that on my porsche where they were adjusted to close or something and would rub on when I turned... but it squeeked also and was louder and you could kinda feel it.

anyway, so i guess its just the tires like everyone says.

Got my EVO last Friday, Jeez, no wonder the ride was so bad I feel so stupid, have done *a lot* on cars for years, even put the thing up in the air to check it out, how the hell did I miss THESE???

Hope this isn't too redundant, this image really shows how they look on the car & off. Mine had 2 on the driver's side, only 1 on the passenger's.

Seems like an epidemic!
