can evo 8 head be converted to mivec to work with an evo 9?

I am trying to do some research and slowly trying to collect parts for my evo 9 build up but i want to use my stock engine as a spare. I want to find a spare head to build but I can't find anyone selling a IX head. I was wondering can the evo 8 head be converted to mivec and can it be made to work in an evo 9, Evo 8 heads are so plentyful so I was hoping there would be some way of making it work for my evo IX. I tried searching and came up with nothing.

oh yeah and can I buy a jdm evo 8 block and make it work for my IX build? or do i have to use USDM only.

Thanks.

No there are several differences between the Mivec and Non-Mivec head, the main difference which is the show stopper is there is a second Cam Angle sensor on the right side of the head, used for the MIVEC to determine its phasing. So there is a mounting flange, different end cap and bearing. Not sure about other major differences other than some head design differences that allow the evo 9 head some better cooling passages which allows a bit more aggressive timing.

This doesn't mean you CANT use the head, but it does mean that you would lose MIVEC if you did. (plus you'd have to deal with ECU issues if you don't use the MIVEC actuator and the sensor)

Of course, the Intake cam, Cam gear, and cam cover, and valve cover are also slightly different due to the extra Mivec hardware.

The block itself probably has some minor differences, however I'm fairly certain those do interchange.
