Why my water temp gauge wend dead ??
Hi all,
My water temp gauge in my gauge cluster just wend dead yesterday, the needle won't go up at all !! So I borrow my co-work's evo 8 gauges and you know what, still not working, That tell me is NOT the cluster ! Then I hook up the Scangauge which will show the water temp in numbers and it showing ok ! That tell me the water temp senor or probe (whatever you call it) is also work. What else could be wrong ?? any idea ??

Seems to me that the connector came off (unplugged) the actual sensor for the cluster gauge. This is different from the reading that the ecu is getting from.
The ecu is getting the reading from the Coolant temp sensor.
Coolant temp sensor has a black 2 wire connector.
The gauge temp sensor has just a black single wire connector located in the T-stat housing front side.

Follow the upper radiator hose going to the head.
This connects to the T-stat housing.
Below that, there is a connector on each side. One facing the firewall (coolant TS)and the other facing towards the radiator (Gauge sensor) single wire.
