HKS intake pipe with the Apex filter does work. The reason is because the pipe is from the turbo to the back of the MAF and the Apex filter connects onto the MAF. Several people on this forum had done it before.

Awww... But you have to buy two pieces.. Or do they sell just the hks pipe alone?

I know that in Japan, you can get the pipe by itself for $170, but not here in the US. Cusco, HKS Kansai, RalliArt makes the pipe but I belive that they're over $300 just for the pipe. Samco makes the pipe as well for $100 something, but it's made of pure silicon. Injen intake is a pretty good deal. You get the filter, turbo inlet pipe and upper IC pipe for $371.

On ebay you can get an intake kit around 60 something dollar. It comes with the pipe and a cheap filter. That's what I did. The cupplings that comes with it sucks though, you'll have to cut it quite a bit but it works. I'm running it right now with stock intake box and a HKS drop in.

Don't ever use the intake that comes with it. I tried it just for fun and man it felt like I lost about 50hp or so. Got beat by a E36 M3 with that intake on. LOL

I tried using my hks turbo pipe(rs kit) and stock air box with a drop-in k&n filter......
forget it.... the hood wont close.

now my question is...will this apexi box line up perfect using the hks pipe?

I have had a hks pod filter in my car at one stage and sorry to tell you it was crap!
the induction was ok but the filteration crap.

I have changed now to the apexi power intake and find that the power gains is too little to notice but the idle and drive is now much smoother.
IMO apexi pod filter is the better choice for the street, you can buy apexi filter kits that come with piping, brackets and heatsheild
