Rev the stock motor to 8500rpms at most ....i did or you can go 8200 rpms which is where most people say is max and you will have a nice big powerband. BTW i drove around with about 500-510 awhp and that was enough to trap 129mph

'Nuff said. I would do the exact same...

Did you ever read the "GT35R Spoolup Answers" thread? I'm at sea level, built 2.0 litre, AMS GT35R... let me check my data log....

18 psi at 4900 rpm
28 psi at 5500 rpm

If I recall those numbers were fairly typical for a 2 litre. Saying GT35R spools at 4300 rpm.... well it seems crazy to me and I'd probably need to see a datalog to prove it.

No offense but if you think Mivec and Cosworth can give you 1000 RPM in spool.... you are crazy! Here is a thread with dozens of respected posters saying full spool on a 2 liter is after 5k rpm.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...poolup+answers

You saying your friend reached full boost at 4300 is just ridiculous. Even with a stroker your only supposed to get back maybe 500rpm in spool.

I'm just more likely to believe pages and pages of solid poster's data logs than one guying saying his friend did X or Y.

OK, I was only in the car but what do I know, I mean it's not like he showed me his logs from his AEM or nothin' .

Seriously, he was only running 28PSI, from a rollon it was QUITE impressive, full boost was way before 5000 RPM's. Maybe you need a tune? MIVEC does help considerably in the spoolup dept. as well.

So you were staring at the boost guage... and the moment you saw it read 28 PSI, you looked at the tach and it read below 5k? Just curious because I can promise that is hard to do because the car is moving at that point. Funny how first you said 4300 full boost, and now your saying deffo under 5k.

I don't need a tune dude, I run Autronic and car was tuned by top UK tuner who flew here just for the tuning. So thanks for the advice though.

No need for us to argue though. Like I said, I'd prefer to believe the dozens of people that reported their logs than the claim of one person without real data.

i think people should only trust boost logs. it's bad enough that a butt dyno depends on the person's ***. a crosseyed boost evaluation is just gonna compound the problem.

I agree and I would not blame someone for thinking the car is making boost earlier than it is. When I first drove my car with the GT35 I thought it felt great and not much laggier than stock. Then when I looked at the data logs later that night I was suprised to see it not reaching full boost until after 5k.

At first I was like wow, what lag?

Then as I drove the car a bit more I was like hmmm, I do miss the car being more responsive. Basically the feeling of the GT35R in my opinion was exactly like you'd expect. It feels great to have all kinds of top end, but you miss the power down low too.

2.4 from Magnus is ordered now so hoping for best of both worlds.

I think it really depends what you want to do with the car. I do not want to build my motor anytime soon or stroke it in the future. If you really only plan to run on pump gas, I believe the 50 trim is the way to go. You can make similar numbers with the 35r, but it will be more laggy. On race gas, it's a different story. You're probably giving up around 60 horsepower or so with a 50 trim. Still, with almost 500 at the wheels on my 50 trim, I have to say I can't imagine having/needing more power right now. I think you can't go wrong with either turbo. It just depends what your ultimate goals are.

What I meant is, the 35r will make about 60 more horsepower on race gas.
