Get the major bolt ons first. Then build the engine Build the bottom end, top end, tranny, and such. Then when your ready for a turbo kit, you can slap it on. Dont get the turbo kit first. Thats like putting on your clothes without putting on underware. Build, then turbo!

Please search first, then ask more informed questions. This is not the newbie area, so you must ask questions that haven't already been asked 1,000,000 times. If you don't want to do any research or searching, then go to the newbie forum and ask to be spoonfed.

this is a rather broad question..

what class are you wanting to autocross in? first know the rules, then modify.

if you are planning on doing any engine work, you're gonna be racing the big dogs in the SM class.

most turbo upgrades will hurt you in autocross as they are to laggy. the 20glt is most likely the biggest any serious auto-xer would go.

and 6k isn't going to get you very far if you decide to race in SM. expect to spend a grand in slicks (more if you go often), 2k in 18" wheels, and 2-3k in suspension. thats 6k right there and you haven't touched anything else.

race buckets = 1000
exhaust, intake, IC piping, boost control, tune/piggyback = 2000

you'll need meth injection or racegas

harnesses etc etc etc...

Back onto thread, If you have the money go to Buschurracing.com or automotosports.com, (AMS). All the parts are going to be on there. I would start off with a boost controller, exhaust, intake, intercooler, intercooler pipes, fuel pump. Do what you can with the stock turbo first, and maybe you will be happy with that setup. If you are not upgrade the turbo, engine and injectors.

GET IT TUNDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

6 grand is just the motor i dont want a total race car my 86 was gutted and all that gas and i just want my car to be faster then normal i know a bigger turbo wont be good from the turbo lag in auto x but its going to be my all around car thanks for the flamer resistance. yeah i know about the search button but when u dont know much about a car searching isnt that helpful. I have used it .. i plan on another 2or 3k for susp also was wondering sense this will be more then a auto x car has anyone tried the tien hg for regular street even though they are gravel type coilovers for street/auto x with a spring rate at about 6kg i belive my 86 had an 8/6 kg coilover setup and it was really stiff daily driving and the tein i were looking at were 10kg front and back also with engine tuning what about a mid compression piston with a smaller turbo 2 save on the turbo lag my freind has a 2.5rs motor in his subu mid compression with turbo and it is quick as hell

You really need to search. I guessing what you want to know because you really didn't ask what you want. You just said i wanna spend x amount on the motor.

The motor in the evo is good to 500whp. The clutch is gonna go if your gonna autoX or just drive hard in general. Get a excedy twin.

For the rest you need to be more specific. What class you run is gonna make the next choices for you.

To start with be sure to get the RS model, (lightest l), and of course get the IX, (power). I have seen them sold used cheap and they were also modded also.

If you don't like the rules that are posted all over the forum, then feel free to complain to the mods. I'm not sure why you're insulting me when all I'm doing is telling him to follow the rules. You went way overboard with your little hissy fit here. I'd also like to know how I "think" I know so much, when all I did was tell him to either search or use the newbie forum. Looks to me like you just went crazy without taking a second to read what you wrote.

His request means nothing. Saying he wants to spend 6k on the motor means nothing - it makes no sense to build the motor and do nothing else. He also did not give any specifics about what he wants to do. If he would search and read up on the HUGE autocross build-up threads (AS, STU, and SM), then he'd be able to get tons of info instead of asking some random joe's who don't know much in Evo General. He would also then be able to ask informed questions that help him get much better feedback.
