Compressor Surge???

First off, my engine mods are as follows: 3.5" turboback, HKS EVC VI, HKS RS Intake, Walbro 255, AMS LICP, AMS UICP, stock BOV, stock Turbo.

When I go to WOT at a low RPM in 4,5,6 gear... the boost will come up to what;s designated on the boost controller (currently 22psi) and bounce around a few times and then stabilize. If I don't WOT below 3300rpm or so it doesn't happen. I've tried changing the gain and the stepping motor with no luck. Even set up an RPM based map with 70% of desired boost below 3500 and it didnt' change a thing. Any ideas?

This will happen with the stock turbo running 22+psi, not sure there is much you can do about it except downshift.

your talking to low of RPM my friend. your bound to see funny things when your at the lowest full spool range. stop putting ur motor under so much load by full throttling in high gears at such low RPM. downshift the damn car! dont ask silly questions like this anymore, ur car is fine.

Ha, ill just start downshifting the car then.

My 8 never did that, but then again it was only at 20psi.

If you have the stock actuator, set the RPM adjustment to pull back -199% below 3500 RPM. That will make it run off stock actuator alone. That will limit your boost below 3500 RPM. That should fix your problem.

This is very important to answer your problem. Where are you sourcing boost for your boost controller? The BOV line?

I would assume that you have one line coming from the wastegate actuator, and the other from the turbo outlet pipe as you have the AMS LICP and that retains the portion of the outlet that bolts to the turbo.....

If so then it is a boost controller setting.

If you sourced your Signal from your BOV, then thats probably the culprit...

it is sourced from the compressor housing.
