A friend of mine had the same problem with a centerforce on his stang. The culprit ended up being the pos throw out bearing that centerforce provided.

I,ve had a CF dual friction in my 63 dodge 440 (well over 500 ft. lbs. of trq.) for about ten years now. After going thru 2 mopar performance heavy duty clutches within 3 years of nothing but street use i put the CF in and its been thru a lot of power shifting and long smokey burnouts and is still working like new. I would guess it has about 25k miles on it. I dont drive the car that often obviousely. I was going to try the CF on my IX but couldnt get any feedback from anyone with an Evo. I went with the ACT MB7-HDSS and prolight flywheel and couldnt be happier with it. Stock like operation, quiet and holds power.By stock like i mean smooth as glass on take off at any rpm.

Most of the Throw Out bearings that Centerforce sell, are stock one's re-boxed.

I did use the Centerforce throw out bearing, but it had the Mitsubishi OEM part number on it. I really wanted this clutch to work for me because I didn't want to fork over more $ for another clutch and installation labor after only 1 year of use. I ended up having to pay for another clutch and install and got a Exedy Twin HD and have not had one lockout issue at all.

x2

my old hatch back only made 240 (dynojet number)

i had a "race" CF that had maybe about 2k of "street driving"

took it to the track to do a 3rd gear burnout on 24's, and i missed the patch of water and the clutch went out before the stock axles did...

after taking it apart, about 40% of the teeth were warped because of heat...
