Cam Gears....any real differences?
You don't get them just to get them. YOu get them in order to finely tune your cams so that your powerband is exactly how you want it. I'm guessing by the way you wrote this thread that you don't know how or where to set the cam gears, so you probably have no use for them.

And i'm fully aware that they are made to finely tune the timing on the car. But with all the different brands.....what makes HKS cost more than say Helix besides the name, nothing i presume?
i know that cams add power...i hope everyone knows that
i'll go fix it right now
Why dont you call Buschur and ask them what they think since you have there 1-4 set-up already. I can almost guarentee you they will tell you that you dont need them and to put your cams in set at O.
if you're going to throw in big cams, might was well get a set of cam gears, you never know you might need them down the road. it will also allow you to tune the car to idle better if you have big cams. i think Fidanza cam gears have the best design. 5 bolt pattern and they use stud and nut design instead of metal bolt on aluminum which can strip the aluminum threads if you adjust it often (never heard this happening but the potential is there).
You really don't need camgears unless you want to adjust your powerband. I'm sure you can eek some power from camgears. Worth getting??? That's all up to you. Ask Dave Buschur one of top tuners and he'll say no stick with stock cam gears. He builds some of the fastest evos and never uses camgears on his car or race cars. I only used one camgear on the exhaust cam of my honda crx which has a turboed dohc gsr v-tec motor. It was used to adjust the powerband and to help spool the turbo a little quicker. Intake cam had stock camgear...
