New Rear?

Apparently I need a new rear end on my 05 EVO VIII. Just what exactly does this mean? I am told that the axles and driveshaft are fine, but that the spider gears, pinion gear, diff, etc. are toast. What do I need here and where can i get a used one?

You need a new rear differential. I know that for the best rebuilt trannies and transfer cases people on this forum use either Shep's or TRE. I guess that both would be a safe bet for the rear differential as well.

i think that you can get the rear diff from Cusco or Ralliart.

I'm being told that the rear t-case for the 05 Evo 8 from Mitsu is like $3300. WTF?!!! Where can I get one used? I'm about to pay someone to steal an EVO off a lot and bring it to a lift. I'll just yank what I need off of it. hahaha. Seriously tho, what is involved in the "rear"?

How'd the rebuild go? I'm about to break into mine. Any specs and specifics would be appreciated...

Don't sweat it! Just take out your OEM rear differential and swap in the ralliart, cusco, kaaz, or quaife. Should be about $1000 or under for just the differential, not hard to do at all.
