Buschur coated turbine housing or 20g

I've been contemplating on either getting my turbine housing done or just getting a 20g from FP. What do you guys think? How much hp gain do you get from the coated housing as well?

A coated housing will not make much of a difference although if you port it then the gains will be better yet. What turbine housing do you have right now? What gains would you like to accomplish?

from just the coating, ? I don't mean to be rude but are you serious? Just get the 20g-lt or at least a 20g-9-5 if you have an 03 stock turbo . . . at the very least get a 10.5 hotside for 250 bucks. coated . . . just get an ebay SS O2 housing . . . IDK someone else will say somthing, I'm sorry I'm just ranting, I just got back from the bar.

Both. Get the 20g-LT and have the hotside ported and coated. I don't see why you would ask us if you should get a hotside upgrade or a turbo upgrade. The question doesn't make sense, because the two choices are not comparable. In fact, choice #2 includes choice #1.

No what i meant was getting it coated. I own a 05 so i already have the 10.5, i was just curious if i should pay the 190 for the coating thats all. I already have the ss 02 housing as well from ebay. Guess i'll just save up and do the exchange deal w/ FP.

save your money- if you coat anything coat your exhaust manifold and 02 and wrap your downpipe

If your in need of getting those ported/coated be sure to let us know. We also can clean up the green hotside quite a bit more and remove the lump that is caused from their machining process in the hotside. I will try to find a picture of this so I can post a before and after.

Coating is not the issue. What you want is porting and then toss some coating on it while you're at it. Just coating won't do much for you, and I highly doubt that coating costs $190. Porting and coating costs $190, not just coating, and porting is the more important of the two. Likewise, it's more important to do the manifold than the hotside, but it's best to do both.

Again, though, I don't see why you're deciding between "coating" your current hotside vs putting on a much more powerful 20g. I don't understand the thought process when you would just get the hotside of the 20g ported and coated anyway.

Here's another question: (based on using a stock IX turbo...)

How big of a difference do you think you would see between just having the hotside ported/coated versus going with the 20gLT?

This is kind of moot for me at this point since I have a 20gLT on order, but I was wondering if simply porting/coating the hotside would have made a good difference.

BTW, this will be in addition to adding a ported/coated stock manifold, coated aftermarket 02 housing, Turbo XS fmic, and larger injectors....

If porting and coating could give you 10whp, a green would give you 30-40whp. This is not exact numbers although think of porting and coating as a supplement to making whatever turbo setup you have perform even better.

Yet again, porting and coating can be done on both the stock turbo and the 20g - it's still a stock turbo, so the gains of the porting/coating will be seen on both turbos.

Actually, by my question I meant to ask what do you think the power difference would be between a ported/coated stock IX turbo compared to a ported coated FPGreen/20gLT turbo...

Sorry for the confusion...

Well once again the porting and coating on each setup would make each equally efficient so you would see comparable gains on both platforms. The porting and coating would boost each setup. So if the porting/coating made the IX turbo 20% more effective chances are it would also make the green 20% more effective. Hard numbers would more than likely prove this although I am sure it is not something that has been tested seperately anywhere.
