Does anyone have any good pics of a Garrett tube and fin intercooler?

I'm thinking of making my own intercooler using a Garrett core.

Oh and if you want to try your hand at making a vertical core intercooler, you may want to look at the Original Runduce Evo, they are using a vertical core setup. Looks like they cut quite a bit of length from the piping.

^ the turbo xs pic above doesnt appear to have the split fin's as in my fmic?

Maybe it is due to not looking into the fins, as the pic is taken at aangle & in-line with the inlet of the end tank.

This is the 24"x12"x4.5" core slated for my RB project. You can see that some fins are pushed over so I use a pic to staighten them up prior to welding the tanks. You can also see the welds between each of the plates.

Performance wise they seem to work well although I have not done any comparitive testing. I use the 24"x12"x3.5" on my IX. Fabrication courtesy of Drifto at www.mpfab.com

I used this same 24"x12"x3.5" core when I fabricated the intercooler for my buddies 2JZ powered 240Z. This car is a daily driver and runs consistent 9.2s@146. I posted this so you have a reference for performance potential using this core. Another advantage is that you can buy just the core and design your own tanks.

I am really hoping the eBay core turns out to be good. I find it MIND BOGGLING that the Name Brand Turbo XS FMIC doesn't have velocity stacks while the AMS FMIC Ripoff clone (17 Row Version) does.

do you have a different version? the turboxs to my knowledge was always a longitudinally straight design.

Thanks, although I was looking for tube and fin Garrett cores, not bar and plate style. I know a lot of big name shops use Garrett bar and plate cores, but I dont plan on spending extended times on a road course. A tube and fin should work better for my needs, and I haven't been able to find any detailed pics of the cores.

And yeah, I was going to get just the core, and have the endtanks made for me, or maybe trying to fab them up myself.
