i am buying a meth kit very soon and wanted to know what the benefits are of running 100% meth or 50/50 mix(or whatever the mix may be). what are the pros and the cons of both? will running less meth hurt my power but be better for the car?

 

It depends on the kit you go with....Aquamist kits are made to run 0 - 100% Meth....

 

100 = more power but more corrosive to the meth kit

50/50 = little less power but the kit will last much longer and its much cheaper to run.

thats it really... i run 50/50 drops the cost to 2.00 a gallon and i use a gallon of the mix a month. uber cheap!

 

sounds good to me the think i am gonna go with the aquamist kit cuz i need to be safe and i hear they are the best right now.

 

+1 to that...I did extensive testing with the evo and found there to be no gain over 50% on the stock based turbos...

 

UCC, that's just one example. 100% has a good bit more power potential than 50/50.

OP, there's nothing special about Aquamist in terms of safety. If you're referring to failsafes, then fine, but you don't even have to run meth if you're worried about corrosion. I run 100% denatured alcohol, because it's not toxic, and because I can get it just about anywhere. Meth is harder to source, but it's cheaper. You can run 100% alky in any major kit with no worries whatsoever.

 

i run 50/50 as well, got dyno tuned with a few other evos 8's and 9's running 100% meth with similar or more mods than me and somehow i still made the most power

 

you can get a snow kit for around 400 with a fail safe.. i've been running it a little while now it and its bullet proof. very easy to install most importantly. the aquamist you probably want to take it to a shop and pay another 100-200 for an install.

100% Meth will lead to washing out of the cylinder bores, and nullify the protective properties of the oil, from what I am told, from someone who knows. I will go find what he says, and post it over here!

 

I am not referring to just my evo...there are several customers that I have tuned and have been tuned that all put down nearly the same trap speeds and dyno numbers as people with 100%...

 

Warrtalon- Is there a difference in power, meth vs. alcohol? Will the tune have to different for each?

 

methanol makes a few more whp than alcohol...the tunes will be similar as far as timing goes but the fuel will be different...

 

Jerry (94AWDcoupe ) can explain about the washout if you want to ask him, or he will post here if he sees this. I say mix 75% MEth and 25% distilled water, and forget about it.

 

huh? Methanol is an alcohol.... you mean more whp than ethanol?

 

i dk what to do now..lol.. i want to make the most WHP possible but be safe...now methanol or alcohol? willl the gains be the same?what is safe and better.. im really looking into the 50/50 mix meth, distilled water.
