yup normal...the IC design that I've seen have the least pressure drop is the Delta fin design Apex style.

you will get a drop because you need more air to fill the added room or the new intercooler. i dopnt have a Turbo XS but i didn't get any loss in pressure drom, but the Turbo XS one is bugger then mine

According to Buschur, a free flowing I/C shouldn't have any drop in boost. In fact you would have to dial the MBC back a bit.

Besides, once that extra space is filled, how does boost still stay lower than previously set? The extra space might induce a bit more lag as the space fills up with air, but pressure/boost shouldn't drop unless it's more restrictive.

Because the turbo still has to push more air than with the stock intercooler, therefor you need to turn up the boost controller to make the turbo work harder to keep up with the demand of pushing more constant volume.

I don't see how the turbo has to push more air. Once the internal volume of the I/C is filled, the amount of air coming into the inlet is equal to the amount coming out of the outlet.

See this post from DB:

When I added the AMS I/C to my old E8, the boost didn't drop.
