Since there isnt much of an Evo movement here in NE Tennessee, I have to rely on my DSM buddies and such, however I have been trying to find out info on Brian Crower cams. Now I know that Crower makes good cams, and one would think that if he split to make his own company the good quality would go with him, but I was just curious if anyone on here is running these cams or knows much about them.

I know HKS is a good way to go but I would like to explore all my options. Anyone have any knowledge of these or know of their performance compared to HKS cams?

 

I would imagine the quality is the same, since Brian is part of the family and just happens to specialize in the late model sports car market. I don't think he "split from the family" per se, as much as he started his own niche business in the market.

I used to have a Crower 262 drag cam in a 500hp Chevy 383 I built. I got to meet Danny Crower when he came out to the track at El Cajon to see us race our super modified oval track car back in the early 90's. Good guy.

FWIW, although I have no personal experience with his products, I certainly wouldn't be afraid to use a cam from Brian Crower...

 

That is kind of how I felt as well, or atleast my feelings on the subject. Was hoping someone decided to go that route to see if they liked the performance and such out of the cams.

 

I have the BC 280-280 cams with springs and valves and made 712hp with them. No problems so far i know one of my vendors can buy them at there cost for $250 for both lol.

i bought Brian Crower 272's cams after read about them ,also after i talked to a guy named Broeli he tells me that they idle smooth and make plenty of power . My cams are not installed yet waiting on more parts

 

I have the 272's installed. I am running a ttp flash to control the idle. The idle wasnt that bad to begin with after the install. I think they are a more mild 272 setup then others, but dont let that fool you, you will need a flash, and fourth and fifth pull like third used to. I daily drive my evo and didnt notice to much of a difference in drivability. The idle isnt that lopey if you are concerned about that type of thing, I personally like the lopey idle. Overall for the price you cant beat them. Get ahold of Horsepower Freaks and they will tell you all the details. I talked to eric, but the whole staff is top notch, great performance shope to deal with. TTP's flash is awesome, they are also top notch. I guess thats about it, thats just my .02 cents.

 

You are right my recently relocated Evo friend.. lol. More powah is bettah. Im glad people have good things to say about these cams. I honestly believe I am going to go this route. Good product at a much lower price as far as I can tell so far. I will be doing much more research on this of course.

 

Awesome thing about BC is that if you call up their main number you are very likely to get Brian Crower himself on the phone.

I called twice before I got my 272's and valve springs+retainers and spoke to him both times. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable.

 

Do you think you have to buy valve springs and retainers to install the cams? I know its not always necessary, what kind of money am I going to end up spending for them?

 

i have 272s, can barely tell i have cams...pulls hard good bang for the buck.

 

Well it seems that there are lots of good reviews from Evo owners. So I think as far as bang for the buck this would be a very good choice. I would imagine he would raise his prices after the popularity of his cams increase. I thought I read something about him planning to do that, but of course thats just here say.

Like i said ive had good luck with BC head stuff but i would stay clear of BC stroker kits just my 2cents

 

i have the 272s sitting in my garage....just waiting on my timing belt tensioner tool to get here from ams then ill let you know how i like them....

 

Why? had bad luck there?
