Would need a reflash if you ever upgrade the intercooler as well. I highly suggest the ported exhaust manifold / MBC / walbro like warr said.
Boost can be controlled by ecu, but only a few tuners do it. The MBC is alot easier, really. Unless you can flash your own boost, its not worth it. I have different maps I logged with different boost settings, so thats the only reason I dont run an MBC. Keeps me from cranking it up on the street anyway.
