Megan Racing Manifold

I have had a megan racing exhaust manifold on my car since last november, i bought it along with a few other goodies from ams. It has started to crack, i didnt know about these issues until reading about it on the forums about a month after i buy it. I am going to run my car this saturday since our track is opening up.Should i just put my stock one back on and maybe get it ported and polished down the road until getting like a turbo kit? Any suggestions will help trying to figure out what i should do before this sat. And also should I consult AMS about returning the kit to them or megan racing since its supposed to have a warranty?

If it has a warranty,...send it back...otherwise WELD IT! (off the car, of course..)

yep, ppi does internal porting for like $65 dollars if i remember correctly. I also have a megan racing manifold and i have had it since september and it hasnt cracked but i am going to send my out for porting soon just in case. you could also send it back since you have a 1 year warranty. all you have to do is take pics of it and they will send one out for you, free of charge.

So should i keep it? i have heard that the stock one ported makes way better flow and power than the one i have on it? And if its cracking now i dont really want to deal with having to weld it every time it cracks

I've been doing some research on turbos and have found that a tubular manifold will usually out perform a log (cast type) manifold and will also eliminate heat more quickly(Garrett's website). I've been runing the MR manifold for almost a year now with no issues. It helped my car spool more quickly and has a much nicer sound. When I have the FP Green installed, I plan on having a support bracket welded onto my MR header before I have it coated, along with my DP & O2 housing.

The Mr manifold actually makes you loose about 10-15lbs of tq. and decreases your spool up..

Put on your stocker right now, then send your MR back for the warranty. They are very good with honoring the 1yr warranty on their parts. When you get it back, sell it. If you have time during all of that to get your stocker ported/coated at Buschur, then go for it, but you'll be fine at the track with the stocker in completely stock form for now.

this is what i would do, go head and get that sucker welded up, and then send your stocker to PPI for 175 you get an awesome port, and coating done.

Here is the site http://www.paradigmperformance.net/ I have the megan header right now, and getting my stocker ported by them..

I wouldn't weld it - I'd send it back to Megan and get a brand new replacement that you can sell. If you try to weld it, they won't warranty it.

To avoid downtime, you can get a pre-ported/pre-coated manifold from Buschur, pay the core charge, then send your stocker to them when you get theirs, and they will refund the core charge. Or, you can buy a used stock manifold from the For Sale section, and send it directly to BR for the porting/coating. Then, when you install it, take your stocker off and sell it. That's how I did my manifold/hotside/o2 - bought them used, sent to BR, got them back, installed them, then sold my original parts for more than I paid.

well it depends on what you wanna do, if you wanna deal with sending your manifold back then you can do that. but it would just be easier to just take it and seal it up until you get you stocker back from (( PPI ))

whitersevo,

Umm,
I've got a dyno chart showing a gain of 15 lbs of tq and 17 hp over the the stocker. I'll be happy to post it. Can you substantiate your claim that the MR header lost TQ, Or did you just her that? If so, I'd love to see it!

Sgt Blamo, I will post up my new dyno chart when I get my stocker back , from being ported, and compare there.. and your going of the stocker, not a ported/coated stocker!! Of coarse you would gain power over the stocker!!
