The only filters I know of that work perfectly with the OEM MAF is the APEXi and the Buschur. Their designs both have a funnel that protrudes into the filter which is said to straighten out the airflow and make it uniform. The APEXi unit uses a solid piece of plastic while the Buschur uses a filter material that flows as well. Which one works better? Who knows but they both work very well and both make power over the OEM airbox and both do NOT effect the MAF.
I would not run any filter except the two mentioned above. I personally went with the APEXi unit.
Dave Buschur also mentioned to keep the OEM intake tube as it baffles intake noises which also effect the MAF. The OEM intake tube works very well to stop that and isn't a major restriction so if you use just a filter your daily driver will be FAR less finicky; especially with cams.
