Alright so here's what i need to know.

I am buying a shortblock for my 03 evo 8,
I need to know if i can use a 06 evo 9 shortblock, because I have someone willing to sell his to me but I need to make sure i can use it before i spend that much money.

More than likely your ECU for sure! And maybe the ACD, but not sure on that one.

 

I just called Mynes Performance and they said that, it shouldnt matter me going from a evo 8 shortblock to a 9..... Anyone else wanna input?

 

Ummmmm...no. The Evo 9 shortblock is exactly the same as the 8, and has absolutely nothing to do with ACD or the ECU lol.

 

I thought the 9's had different oil passages and coolant passages. Run the part numbers in caps, If the 8's part number is superceeded to the 9's then you can intercange them. If not, I wouldn't recommend it.

 

can you gaurantee this? from what i have been exposed to some passages need to be rerouted to hook up to the 9 head for an 8 block so i'd only assume the vice versa has to be true for a 9 block running an 8 head.

note to others in the thread. he said short block which means he prolly can't afford to change our his head which may or may not be fine to use.

 

But i need to know if this is still a issue, i have a evo9 longblock and a evo8 head and im considering putting the evo8 head on the block because i dont wanna change the ecu and wiring harness i just wanna fix this to sell this car.
