might be a leak in the hose between the turbohousing nipple + wastegate nipple and the selenoid. there's a few posts on here about leaks in this area that cause crazy spikes. seemed like for some it was the hose being pushed too far down on the nipple on the turbo housing which has a bend causing the hose to oval and leak boost. others it was just cracks in the hoses.

what type of mbc did you try. did you open it all the way or close it all the way?

i started having the same problems. at WOT i will start boostin 30 psi. it was set at 22psi . i tried turning the boost down and it will not go down at all. i control the boost just by the gas pedal its like open boost now..(mbc) i have to watch my boost gauge. when i press the gas all the way down it kinda lags and stutters a little and sometimes makes a lil popin noise, like fuel cut or over boost. any ideas whats wrong? i guess its the same problem 4 wheel slide has?what do u guys think

thats exactly what im stuck doing.... i cant floor it, i can barely give 1/2 gas...

its an older hallman, its closed all the way..... pretty sure the more its unscrewed the higher the boost.... tomorrow ill mess with it some more... i got frustrated and gave up earlier

the same exact thing happened to me with my greddy profec B! It was an installation problem though, the mechanic who installed the EBC had accidently closed one of the hoses of the intercooler when putting the intake back on.

I'm no mechanic, but he says that if one of the EBC hoses is blocked (don't know which one) the EBC has no control and will accept whatever boost it can get.

Re-install and hopefully you'll be fine

What is your combo, gotspray? What year Evo? What boost controller? What WGA? What BOV/DV? How much peak boost? Any exhaust mods? When did this problem 1st crop up? This seems to be an epidemic.

in that case it was a bad install... but in my situation the ebc and mbc are fully fuctional and have been tested on another car this morning. almost all the vac lines have been replaced.



another thing i noticed this morning while i was idleing at a light.. my afr's bounce around from 11.5's to 18.5's back and forth in a sweeping motion.

im sure that has something to do with it

still not working with my ebc though.... which is wierd since it worked in my friends car, but doesn't work in mine....

04 its all stock, hks bov, head studs,mbc, no exhaust or nothing and my boost was set a 22 psi. stock turbo and wastegate. then one night i was messing around with my buddies rx-7 and we did a lil 40mph roll and as soon as i floored it it boost like 30 psi. and started stutterin back and forth i got my *** handed to me because of this.lol. its been like this for about 1 week in a half.im debating on take it to the dealer because i just bought a gt35 kit. it put on it. :0) so ur guys thinks is the mbc? either way i turn it up or down it doesnt do anything.
