Do you have an open element air filter? or the stock air box? A recirc valve is fairly quiet with the stock air box. If you want to hear it, you need to install an open air filter (RMR, Buschur, etc.)

Not sure what your describing about the orientation of the valve.. but the stock valve's diaphragm faces sideways, and an aftermarket valve should be installed the same way.

I just reinstalled the BOV to mirror the way the stock BOV was installed. I was able to adjust the vacumn hose so that it would be very slightly pinched due to its lenght. I only have the stock air box at the moment but will be purchasing an RMR air filter once the funds become avalible. Now the the BOV has been reinstalled I do hear a whooshing sound while inside my vehicle. I guess it will get better when I put a new filter on.

I just purchased and installed a longer piece of hose for the vacumn line so it is no longer pinched as seen in these pictures

How much did you pay for the Forge MotorSports BOV? Any issues so far? Does anybody know how it compares to the HKS SSQV?

tpm17,
Your DV is installed wrong. I did the same thing. IF you had an air filter you would know it was wrong by the horrible screeching it makes that way. The vaccum fitting should be pointed up.
It is actually not the same as stock. For whatever reason, Forge seems to be unsure that is why you didn't get a clear answer.

wojo,
The forge is about 150 much cheaper than the HKS and apparenlty much better based on testing. The only problems so far is installing them wrong.

RMR has the bracket to support the MAF so it's RMR.
It is not good for the MAF to bounce around and I don't get why Buschur does it that way. If anyone wants a Buschur I'll sell you mine as soon as my RMR comes in.

Pardon my ignorance, but why would it be installed wrong if it is pointing the same way as the OE valve with the same piston orientation?

I don't know how to explain it, but it is proven by the everyone on here who has it installed this way and all the people who did it wrong and then switched it's install.

By the valves design, the boost pressure keeps it closed while iti s under boost, therefore the chamber area needs to be exposed to the boost pressure. How's that for an explanation?

I never really botherd to get into comparing the two by desin but I think that explanation is right. I just switched it cause I knew the horrible screeching could not be right.

I am talking with the stock air box and all the thing was really loud, not to mention annoying. Now that I have an aftermarket filter I can hear the normal blow off of boost pressure.

Mine is installed as was the OE valve, and as is in the pictures above with no strange noises or ill operation... strange

how does the Forge sound with the OE airbox? Is there any difference, I don't think there would be too much of a difference without an open element. Also, has anyone experienced any rough idling or stalling that has been associated with the SSQV or the Greddy type S? I think that I'll be going with the Forge unit, and the AEM short ram is supposed to be in next week (they used the car for their design/fitment).

maybe the differences in sound that people are hearing are because of the potential for hose pinching mentioned?
