It is just the way the valve is. I couldn't find this post previously when I talked to Forge about this and I was told the valve could go either way and it makes noise sometimes whewn it is installed one way on some cars. Just the way it is.

Are you guys just buying BoV's for sound? hehehe... dont get me wrong, i love a nice sounding bov... :-) mmmmm...

anyways, i found this online the other day, i thought i would show you guys who need even more sound!!

Electonic BOV :-)

But seriously, I ran open filter for a few days and noticed a power loss... sound went up but power went down. I dont think its a good idea to introduce new air (including enginebay's hot air) without balancing the fuel rate or CPU, this is just my humble opinion.

Im holding off until i do everything else... enjoying my stock quietness for now :-)

I really really need all the help I can get. I currently have a Forge BOV and RMR Air filter Kit installed. I don't know about the rest of you but the two together sound like absolute ****!!!! I went ahead and installed the BOV two different ways and the sound was always the same. There is never just one big release of air, rather there is the loud disgusting and annoying sputter of pressure being released. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? I mean, sure the BOV is much louder with the air filter installed, but damn the BOV never ever sputtered like that. Can anyone comment on what is going on? Otherwise tomorrow I'm putting the stock air box back.

Whoa.. The stock air box is only going to mask the problem.
There is something wrong with the DV. It should release all at once and be nice and smooth. No matter how much boost I am releasing it is always a nice woosh. You either have a too stiff spring in the valve or the valve is defective. Put the stock BOV back on instead and get a hold of Forge. I am sure they will take care of it. You did get it from forge, right? Reason I ask is that a vendor may have sent the wrong valve.

They said they recommend that their BOV be installed mirroring the same way the stock one was installed but, it could be installed with the vacumn line facing (pointing) upwards and the results he said were a louder sound. I couldn't install the BOV with the vacumn line facing sideways because the stock hose is too short and would pinch. So I installed it with the hose facing upwards, and I barely hear any "whooshing" sound but I can hear it quietly dump when I rev really high. The car still drive the same and I don't feel any difference, but I wasn't expecting to see any difference. I wanted to hear a better sound so I've come here for some help. Which way is the prefered way to have the BOV installed?
Chances are if you install the other way, it will squeak, which is more noise but it is hideous and annoying. You won't hear it unless you have an open element filter like a cone filter (RMR).
Check out this post for more information on the Forge valve and what I found. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ight=Stock+bov
The forge valve works differently then most valves out there. The whole post is good information, the Forge info I posted is at the end.

I have the RMR intake and the stock BOV. It sounds great. The intake made a little more power (that's why I added the turbo-back exhaust), but it really does wonders for the noises under the hood. I am not really sure I need to upgrade the BOV unless I increased boost pressure (which I'm not going to do).
