No oil drain plug washer from the factory?

Changed the oil the other day and when I loosened the plug to drained the oil there was no washer between the drain plug and oil pan. Has anyone else had this issue?

Look at the drain plug very closely. I think that on mine that it was painted on to the drain plug so it is hard to see.

It's not there. The replacement washer that comes with the oil filter is a double ring looking washer and would be very hard to miss if the washer from the factory looked the same. What's funny is that I changed the oil in my 03 Crv for the first time this weekend and it also had no washer.

You sure it wasn't compressed almost flat against the drain plug's head?

That double ring looking washer gets crushed down to about 20 % it original thickness once the drain plug is properly retorqued in place.

SC~

Yes PLEASE double check that what Secret Chimp isn't the case. I've made a similar mistake with a brake line hose and it started leaking severely a short time later. The washer gets so crushed that it looks like it is part of the plug.

I thoroughly checked mine out when I did my first oil change.
I was pretty paranoid myslef.

but....no...I did not see a washer on there. The filter I bought came with one and I installed that.

There was no washer and didn't use one this time until I verify that I was given the correct washer (which I doubt). Btw, no washer, no leaks.

Mine had a washer, it was wedge on the oil pan side, I had to yank it out.
