Ralliart/Hayward & Scott exhaust

As title, anyone has them on your EVO 8 yet? If you do, how do you like them?

I had a set of ScoobySport/Hayward & Scott turboback for my WRX and it was the best upgrade/purchase that I've ever made for my WRX.

I did a search and was suprised that no one had really mentioned this exhaust.

Anyone?

I think Hayward/Scott mainly caters to the Subie crew. I would be down for a Ralliart or H/S exhaust if either made it over to this side of the pond. For now i hold out till the Apexi N1/GT comes for the VIII

Q: Who is Hayward & Scott?
A: Hayward & Scott has built exhausts for Ralliart UK's WRC team cars for 12 years. This is the exhaust system that has taken Tommi Makinen to 4 consecutive WRC championships!!! Each system is handmade, and the design is specifically for the Evolution. Hayward and Scott have provided similar success to Nissan drivers in the BTCC. They were also the company chosen to design the exhaust systems for the Ford RS200 Group B rally car and are still a subcontractor to Ford Research, Lotus and Rolls Royce for prototype work. When the last 3 original Ford GT40s were finally assembled in 1999, Hayward and Scott were selected to provide the exhaust systems.

System Specs:
The exhaust system comprises of a 3" downpipe which connects to the elbow in the same way as the original one. Just before you reach the cat section, we decrease the pipe size down to 2.5." The rest of the system is mandrel bent (as the down pipe) with a standard back box and tail pipe. We offer a standard size of 3.5 " with a rolled tip. We use a variable diameter exhaust because as the gas leaves the turbo it does cool, as the gas goes under the car. It contracts, and if the exhaust does not reduce slightly in diameter it will slow, creating a bottlenecki. For this reason, our 2.5¡¨ catback offers the same hp as a 3¡¨ catback, but with superior torque numbers. All the flanges and tubing, backbox, etc are are made from 304 stainless steel 18/16 gage. We warranty the pipes for 25 years.

If you intend to do BOTH a full exhaust system AND additional modifications (i.e., engine management or other power mods) then we do recommend a full 3¡¨ system. We will build the full system in 3¡¨ for you at the same cost as a special order. If you are doing just a cat-back, or replacing only a portion of the exhaust but leaving a factory cat, then we strongly recommend the 2.5¡¨ sections cat-back.

Some additional information on the H&S US Spec EVO Exhaust
¡P O2 sensor on the rear center pipe.
¡P Longer exhaust tip for the beefier US EVO bumper.
¡P H&S will is building the rear muffler hangars with short slots, so that an owner can adjust the muffler vertically to their liking. If it is too close they can lower it, or raise it for slightly more clearance

Flexibility:
Each piece of the system replaces its counterpart factory piece, offering excellent flexibility.

Warranty:
All pieces come with 25 years warranty, even from rust through!

Dyno:
Stock: 236.7hp and 238.4 ft-lbs of torque.
Catback: 246.8hp and 248.6 ft-lbs of torque.
Turboback: 257.3hp and 258.5 ft-lbs of torque.

Its the same one as for an Evo VII....but unless they have a US spec rear bumper, their exhaust, like every other exhaust made for a VII or JDM/UK market VIII, the tip will be a bit short

Again guys, if its being done off a UK spec Evo VIII, it will not fit properly, as their rear bumper is the same as the JDM unit. For some reason, only we get the slightly more "bulbous" rear bumper.

The Ralliart is pricey..around $900 (but again, its not going to quite be the right length, though it physically bolts up perfectly.

Hehe...not knockin H&S at all..they make a very nice product, and nowing ken from Rallyperformance personally, he is a heck of a nice guy..but I hope people listen too.

Again, it will physically bolt up, but unles theya re lengthing the tip or rear section a tad to accomodate the US rear bumper, it will look like most of the JDM systems out there (i.e. a bit "short")

Hi guys

Hi folks!

Great points here...

In adjusting for the US market, we have had to take into account both the sensor bung and the larger bumper (increased distance from rear box hangar to exhaust tip).

We're adjusting that length now, and these and all future systems for the US spec car will "look" right.

Looked for you at STPR Adam, did you make it out? Hope things are going well.

Regards,
Ken

Hi
Have been speaking to Ken at Rally Performance about the Evo VIII and he has confirmed the addition length and the Lamda socket ( Which we already knew about and have the position for ), meaning we are all set to make on confirmation of some orders . Thought you might be interested in some info we have just recieved from Tony *** (ex ralliart uk guru and now works for Extreme Automobiles ) quote "HAYWARD AND SCOTT EVO EXHAUSTS GIVE 8 BHP MORE THAN ANY OTHER EVO EXHAUST ON THE MARKET THAT WE HAVE TESTED"A complete exhaust will give 25 bhp and cat back system 17 bhp.
