And people wonder why Mitsu denies warranties "just because of an intake"

Im amazed how many people think the drop in is the best...it may be the safest but it is far from the best. Many intakes will put out much more power than dropins. Go look how many buschur or ams cars run intakes.....nuff said

I'm sorry but has anyone else noticed what kind of power this was putting down?!? 258 with just an intake on a VIII, on a dynodynamics? Should be over 200 for sure but not over 240.

If so this is one HELL of an intake.

Does replacing the stock airbox with a cone filter, such as the Buschur filter cause problems? I'm not talking about the whole intake system, only the filter.

Don't forget about closed-loop fueling, either. Using the open-loop fuel tables is fine for tuning open-loop. For closed-loop (cruising, part throttle), you should also be tuning the MAF scaling table to adjust for the altered airflow reading through the MAF. The stock MAF scaling table has adjustments for up to 1600Hz.

If not, you can possibly have your fuel trims off by a large enough percentage to cause issues with transitions from closed to open loop. Worst case would be a maxed out fuel trim where you could run too rich/lean during cruise, causing a fuel trim cel and possibly dropping into open-loop during cruise.

I'm also curious as to why this car is making so much power on a DD dyno with just an intake, broken ring land as a baseline run? Something is fishy with this dyno chart or the whole story is not told. How much boost was he running, what other mods, and what grade of fuel was this freak on?

Thats what I have been saying, whats up with these dyno numbers. If it runs sooo bad how the hell did it make 260WHP . I think this just shows his numbers are never as good as everybody thinks (Also why buschur products always gain like 30WHP ) Anything looks good when you control the correction factors.

I understand the detrimental effects an intake can have on MAF, but assuming that there were no other factors in causing damage to this car is not right. Unless the car was documented over those 20K miles.
