I typically admire and respect people that try to do projects but I highly discourage people that haven't done simple and basic research.

Your friend would be better off replacing the stock unit for lets say a KKK -K04S bolt on which is basicly an upgrade version of the stock.

Trying to fit a Evo 9 turbo on a VW wouldn't be a easy task, you would have to make the follwing parts to fit:

intake
intercooler pipe going to the IC
a header with twin scroll diverter(split in two)
and off course a custom downpipe
in addition to that(I am not done yet) off course you must custom make oil and water lines.

The total cost would vastly surpass the hassle and the performance gains. Tell you friend to resale the turbo to a Evo Member for $400 ish(recup his money) and start fresh with a proven bolt-on turbo.

Best of luck.

Carlos

he got the turbo for cheap and the piping and water lines and all the other little stuff is no problem. i am very familiar with the people at turbo trix and they do excellent IC piping jobs. they have done other VW's piping jobs with this turbo. we did all the price calculating and it is pretty much the best bang for our buck. it is going to be $1100 including the cost of the turbo.(turbotrix hooks me up i have spent a lot of money there in the past and have referred many people.it will be more if i decide to have them make the exhaust manifold as well.

Sure, I am a hater.. whatever you say. I am not against it, I am just saying it wouldn't be a easy task. Having turbotrix behind gives you a lot of comfort but still is a turbo path that is not usual.

Honestly it wouldn't bother me if he puts a Evo 9 on a Golf GTI, I wouldn't get jelaous or anything in fact I am the type of guy that would shake your hand and congratulate you for the success(ask anyone on this forum that knows me in person).

Anyway, as I said before, good luck on that project. By the way, look your signature and look mine, we have some things in common(SMILE)

yeah, we are just getting everything together right now. i sent full race 20v 304ss 1/2 flanges and a twin scroll turbine inlet and they are making a custom exhaust manifold for us. now just water and oil lines.thanks for the support jeff.

Jeff,

Forced performance sell special universal water and oil lines, the oil lines are basicly adaptable to any turbos, they are stain steel braided and flexible, you might want to check that.

As far is the intake piping, you can get the adapter for the inlet through extremepsi, they do sell various silicone pipes for DYI projects.

As per the downpipe, you don't really need the whole thing , just the fabrication of the bracket that would bolt on the Evo 9 turbo o2 hosuing then weld it to the existing oem VW downpipe.

Those are just my suggestions.
