build me a built 2.0 monster
build me a built 2.0 monster
ok like my last thread stated im looking into build my motor or a whole new motor(2.1L) i talked to eric at AMS and the 2.1L is quite a bit of money, but i bet its worth every penny.
now im looking for advice from the engine gurus...im possibly going 2.0L built or 2.1L from AMS..if i go 2.1L AMS will supply everything i need..
now what i need from you guys is advice on what to get and everything to get for a 2.0L build
this will be a street car/daily driver so put that into consideration
pistons-?
rods-?
oil pump-?
let me know EVERYTHING i will need to build a strong 2.0,and also which companys to go with..
thanks

If your gonna spend the money on Cosworth, get JUN.
Ask yourself these questions; How much experience does Cosworth have with 4G63 motors?
How much experience does JUN have with 4G63 motors?
How many professional teams use Cosworth?
How many professional teams use JUN? (Cyber Evo)
The answer should be clear..
That's a 2.2 though, but with JUN quality, you could rev it as high as a 2.0
If you want a 2.0, stock crank, Pauter rods, Wiseco pistons. You could swap in a K1 crank if you want, but seeing as how the stock 4g63 crank is strong enough for 1000+ whp, I doubt you'll have an issue.

this is absolutely correct!!!!!
to the OP, what are your goals exactly? i would recommend the ams stuff, check out their new 23rr motor. it has the same idea as the cosworth 2.2l, a stroker that can rev high!!!

Wow man building a motor is a big deal its not just motor there are many things you got to get. Timeing belt and all parts that go with that. Oil pump and be reused if you took very good care of your motor if not you can just buy new gears and clean the caseing. You need a new oem gasket kit start off fresh. New clutch plates if you have a twin plate by already if not your going to need a new clutch. Check you water pump for leaks and clean if needed. And the list goes on and on.
I would buy a new motor why here is why and i think alot of people would agree to this start new fresh block you can use it 2 or 3 times once you bore out your block your pretty much done with it. Depending on what happens to your motor depends on how many times you can use a new block. With your old block have it bored and ready to go if you blow one motor you got a back up ready to drop in transfer over parts that can be reused like rods and crank if it meets specs. I can go on and on about this but i think you get the idea.
Good luck with your build it will be a beast.
Ps im on my 2nd built motor on my car. Its a pain in the a$$

I'm using AMS Oliver Rods and Ross pistons with no problems to date
AMS has been awesome to deal with. We just ordered the L19 head studs from them. Our ARP were not holding up from us

Same thing also happened with other guy who had his engine built with AMS and it didnt even lasted 500 miles....
Why dont you built it your self???
I am also building my 2.0L motor with Ross pistons and Carrillo Rods....
Best of luck!

I don't know why people think a 700hp and more motor that is ran at the drag strip and pushed to its limits is going to last long. We have to data log each pass and watch for knock and than after about 50 passes we pull the oil pan and check the bearings if they look beat up we polish the crank and stick new ones in. 4g63 motors that run 35 plus lbs of boost have to have lots of piston to wall clearance to allow the piston to expand under heat but wears the crap out of the walls. Anyways a built motor that gets ran hard doesn't last.

well my goals are mid 600 on 35R with 34 or so psi..now if i swap out the 35R with a 37R my goals are about 710 or so.
so i know i need rods,pistons,oil pump,and possibly could go with a k1 crank..
i know ill be using ross pistons for sure..rods either carrillo or oliver..
anything else i may need to look into?give me a full list on everything i would need.
also i never heard anything bad about AMS..maybe the guy whose motor blew, maybe he didnt know how to drive, maybe AMS built it but he didnt have them tune it,who knows...
