Weird noise after using n2o

I installed a nitrous kit on last saturday on my 05 evo. When i first got it i tried the 35 shot. Damn it felt good. Then at night i put racing fuel and ran the 50 shot to race a talon. After the race i started hearing a wierd noise that goes on only when it is boosting. It sounds like a whiseling noise. Does anyone have any idea what this problem is?

N2O. Not NO2.

You probably have a leak somewhere now. Just overcompensate by getting more NAWS.....Get the big bottles....2 of them.

Do a boost leak test.

A whistle is most likely the sign of a boost leak. Check all you intercooler piping and then do a boost leak test like everyone else said.

Intercooler plumbing. N2O overpressuized your pipes and you now have a leak that is audible.

Until you start looking in the engine bay for yourself and stop asking for advice based solely on how the car drives and sounds, that's as far as many people on here will help you.

I'm supprised Warrtalon hasn't beat me to this yet......

Yes i think that a boost leak is the cause. My evo used to boost around 21 psi. About a week ago it started doing less than 19. But no noise went on until i used the n2o. I think that the power the n2o made expanded the leak.

I promise that after it stops snowing outside i will check the engine bay.

how does nitrous overpressurize the intercooler plumbing? Unless there's a backfire, it won't do squat to overpressurize the intercooler piping. Now the turbo may make more boost as a result, but that's easily monitored via a boost gauge.

You're absolutely right that expanding gases won't do anything to a pressurized system such as nitrous oxide when it is sprayed into a (relatively) hot intake path.

Now stop following me around and posting right benind me trying to be Mr. Know-it-all. This is the second time you've done this today. (Post #27 in this thread)

I'm not following you, don't flatter yourself. Also, don't forget the wastegate is in charge of how much pressure is in the intercooler piping, it will compensate. Besides, a 50 shot ain't crap, it all gets sucked into the intake manifold, and does not "pressurize" the intercooler piping. Now the extra exhaust gas it creates will spin the turbo up faster, causing more boost, and possibly overpowering the wastegate, but you make it sound like the nitrous by itself adds a bazillion cubic feet of volume and overpowers the system. It's just completely wrong.

Not a bazillion...

If he's pressing 21 PSI on the stock plumbing, then spraying some laughing gas as well might be enough to overkill the stock joints.
