Which Clutch is better?

HI Evo maniacs!
i'm new to this forum and recently purchased a 2004 evo VIII and frankly i'm completely clueless on what is better for my car. i'm not used to the amount of power this car has and i had a little to much fun in the past 2 weeks. Basically my clutch is shot and i new a new one. i did my research on this topic and didn't find anything that will answer my question on "which clutch is better for the evolution?" here's the deal, i drive the car every day and rarely race so what would you suggest based on this information of what kind of clutch to purchase? what stage? and what brand?

i found an Exedy stage 1 clutch kit and F1 racing flywheel for $450
- is that a good deal?
thank you!

Exedy is a good to great clutch..ATS,RPS,Tilton and a few others are all great... but consider what you plan to do in the future... To just go out and buy the first clutch you see has its disadvantages in the long run.. Dont buy the ultimate, but keep in mind what you want to do to the car, if anything, in the days to come. Good luck either way

have you looked into ACT yet? You will experience some noise with aftermarket flywheels, more with the lighter ones. Can you just resurface the stock flywheel?

I dunno much but I hear that the Search clutch works best.

Kidding, I have an Exedy Twin and love it. I drive my car hard, drag race, etc... and it is rock solid. Decent modulation and excellent pedal pressure.

Pair the ACT HD Street Disk with a Gruppe-S flywheel if you are planning on keeping the stock turbo. It is a strong clutch and great for a daily driver.

If you are planning on going a little ***** out take the plunge and get the Exedy Twin Disk like the rest of us gangstas.

I've been steadily abusing my ACT HDSS clutch for over a year and 400+whp, TONS of launches, and flat foot shifting and it's still holding.

ACT MB7 HDSS W/Prolight flywheel. Smooth as stock engagement, quiet, and will hold up to very spirited driving for everyday use. I put it in my BR350 and am totally satisfied with it. There isnt anything about it i dont like.

Yeah I like this single plate clutches, they are a little violent but they simply CLAMP and hold, 2900 pounds is MUCH stronger then the Exedy Twin which I believe is 2100-2200 pounds and relies on the extra friction area to support the torque, which has to mean more wear.

What is the longevity of an Exedy Twin disk? I have heard from MANY people that thiers did not last much longer then 20K. I have run ACTs since my DSM days, nver had an issue with longevity, I always sold the car before they even had a hint of failure.
