why does my car do this....
hey guys,
well i bought a 06 MR last friday, and every time i would wash the car and go drive afterwards, the idle jumps up to about 2500rpm when i hit the brakes. when im just holding the clutch in it idles normal, but as soon as i hit my brakes it jumps to 2500rpm and stays there until i let off the brakes. after driving around for a good bit it gradually goes down, until finally its normal. why does it do this? does anyone else have the same problem?

im only pressing the brake, not the brake and the gas like someone told me before. i know this because i pressed it with my hand...
is there anything under the hood that water might leak on that could cause this? like i said it ONLY happens after i wash my car, so water has to be getting on something or hitting something to cause this

Does it really jump 2500? that's quiet a lot. I know if I'm cruising to a stop in neutral and stop quickly (or break traction) the abs system kicks on and my idles go up a little.
what is your engine temp when this is happening? is it at normal operation temperature, or is it cold?
whenever i cold start my car the rpms will go up to around 2k and hang there until the engine starts to warm.
if i drive before the car has warmed up a bit, and press on the brake and let the clutch out, the idle will go back up. usually not as high as 2500, but it is something to consider. then when the engine begins to warm up either from idling or driving, the idle will drop down to 750 - 800 where it should normally be.
but, i would take it back to mitsu either way. while you still have a warranty, you should use it every chance you get.
