BOV/MBC Help!

im thinking of getting rid of my Greddy Type-S for a JDM 9 DV....is this a good move? also what kinda boost can the stock JDM DV hold?

how much can the Greddy Type-S hold?

what im experincing with my car is....i do a 3rd gear pull and boost spikes at about 1.65 kg/cm3 then quick jump to 1.61kg/cm3 then tapers down to 1.47(ish)kg/cm3. then when i shift to 4th my boost only goes to 1.5kg/cm3 and drops down to about 1.4kg/cm3. what could be causeing this....the Dejion(sp?) Tool MBC or the Greddy Type-S? or both?

the ix diverter is a great piece

you'll thank yourself for switching...most seem to be able to hold about 26-28 psi

You're seeing less max boost after shifting, because you're beyond the peak boost point. If you roll into boost from low rpm in 4th gear, it will spike higher than 3rd.

The Greddy is not very good. You want either a JDM MR DV or IX DV - it's not the JDM 9 DV - you were just mixing up those two. It holds up to 25psi efficiently, but it will easily hold more than that but less efficiently.

also getting a differnt MBC and the 9 DV could that help hold boost better??

different boost controllers are likely to hold boost and taper differently

hallman rx
forge unos

are two very popular and commonly used boost controllers

Your boost is holding fine. It's going to taper regardless, and yours is not tapering too much.

1.6bar is a bit over 23psi, and that is usually a bit high for 93oct on an VIII, but it depends on your tune.

Ok, whichever. Why would you have a gauge measuring in kg/cm^3? Bar is bad enough, but that's even worse.

well i had the BOV on my 2003 Lancer and it worked fine...im trading a guy my BOV for his 9 DV....

and the gauge that i have is Greddy Digital Boost....they mesuare in kg/cm2.... to go from psi to kg/cm2 divide by 14.2 and from kg/cm2 multiply for 14.2

edit i was typing kg/cm3... i ment kg/cm2....so its actully 1 kg/cm2 = 14.22psi

witch means im only running 1.61kg/cm2 = 22.9psi.....i though that was fine to run?? i have a good tune and no knocks...
