EvoGreen and Meth

Well first let me say I don't have the graphs yet...got tuned at the last minute last night and my tuner is out of town until next week. I'll post them when I get them.

Tuning was done on a Dynojet and my tuner was Nate from TPG Tuning . He used to tune for Slowboy, so he was able to give me a comparison of where this dyno is compared to the Dynapacks, which they are very close - about 15whp higher on this Dynojet. Please...I don't want to hear how you can't compare dyno's - just putting that out there as a basis for my comparison between my previous car on meth tuned at Slowboy versus this car.

All tunes are at 10.8 A/F which may be a little rich, but I'm OK with that as a daily driver. For meth, I mix 1 gallon of -20 washer fluid and 4 bottles of HEET. I like some water in my mixture, and I use HEET and washer fluid because I know I can find that just about anywhere in an emergency.

First tune was straight turbo on 93 pump. Peak boost was 22psi 372whp and 36x torque (don't recall exactly, but will be on the graph). Very good numbers in my opinion because on the Slowboy dyno in my last car with meth running 26psi I did 362whp and 388 torque.

So far so good. Now for the meth.

At 29psi I was at 397 whp and 414 torque. Couldn't do much more with timing because it would start to knock. Added my HKS DLI2 and he got me to 409whp and 422 torque. We didn't hear any spark breaking up, but obviously the DLI helped because he was able to push it a little further. I was surprised the DLI did this much for me!

So I head home and worry about keeping my eyes on the road with this new power and only glance at my DDS3 to make sure it's showing flow, but not close enough to watch what it peaks at. Turns out that it is set to only flow 225ml and it really should be around 375ml, so I believe there is more power and torque to be had with the additional flow so I will go back next weekend when he gets back. I believe I will see 420-425whp and 440-450 torque.

I love this turbo. I had to drive a few places before I was tuned and before I changed injectors and so I had to stay out of boost, but even then I could tell there was a difference. Something about it is just "solid" - hard for me to describe it. It has such a strong feel to it that I found myself boosting less coming in to work this morning because I just didn't feel like it was struggling like the stocker sometimes feels like.

Here are my mods...

Exedy Twin Disk
Forced Performance EvoGreen turbo - ported
Forced Performance upgraded wastegate
Buschur ported/coated stock exhaust manifold
Buschur stainless steel coated O2 housing
SMC meth kit
Aquamist DDS3
LC-1 wideband w/ XD-16 A/F gauge
780cc Injectors
Walbro fuel pump
Injen FMIC
Injen LICP
Injen Upper Pipe
Injen Intake
Forge Unos MBC
TTP dowpipe
Test Pipe
TurboX-S catback
HKS DLI-2

I think that is everything for power. Again, sorry I don't have graphs yet and that I do not have any numbers on this dyno from when I had the stock turbo.

Thanks to Robert at Forced Performance for a great turbo, and thanks to Nate at TPG for a very smooth tune!!

Glad you like your new setup - thanks for posting your results!

Please give your impressions on spool-up as compared to the stocker...

OFF TOPIC:
I believe the Injen LICP you have listed has the same neck down that the stock LICP had.
At your power level, you would likely gain about 10whp and better spool by changing it out to a Nisei, Buschur, HPF, any brand with no neckdown...

Great Pumpgas numbers but the statement above bothers me a bit, i made 395/385 on a stock 10.5 turbo evo 8on 30psi (turbo ran out of air) and methanol no knock at all, with a 37r i was running 32psi and methanol 21* total advance and had no knock.

a 7psi increase only netted you 30hp/40tq?

You numbers should be much higher, are you sure you where knocking and not just missing because of the rich AF mixture and lack of spark?

What plugs and gap are you running?

If you are on BPR7's thats on of your problems, for that much boost and methanol you should be running BPR9's gapped to about .021-.022

It's a 9, with proper mivec tunning you don't need cams, you can set the ICL and valve events exactly where you need them to make an unbeleavable anount of power

You will still see a noticeable improvement with cams on a IX, especially with that turbo.

IMHO, the addition of IX cams would bring his pump gas #'s up from 370's to 390-400whp...

Reason you see an improvement is becasue we (the tuners) don't fully understand how mitsubishi has coded the mivec to work, an aftermarket cam with more lift and duration will make more power without tunning, but spending some time learning ho to manipulate the duration with Mivec would be 10X more efficient.
