What the hell? ok, how about a head off one side of a 4.6dohc crown vic?

I was wondering about this swap too... but it seems a little costly.

no one has anymore info on this?

difference is a hose that routes from the oil pressure sensor hole to the head. the oil pressure sensor is mounted in the oil filter housing. the 8 oil pressure sensor was on the back of the block.

i don't think you can just swap heads, the 9 has different cooling/oil passages so you'll need the whole block+ecu but it can definetly be done!

Yah i have heard that before also, JAM sells both blocks (Evo8 and Evo9) for the same price, so it does makes one wonder are they the same. I would say its safe to say they are very close, maybe JAM would be a good sourse to call on this.

"acd doesn't matter, it uses its own ecu. abs doesn't matter it's all that same.

the evo 8 block is the same as the 9 block. THIS IS A BIG ONE

this also means you can swap a 2.4 in easy.

the head and ecu are what you ahve to worry about.

if you're doin' a swap this large... you will strongly consider getting an aem ems evo 9 version. this will simplify things, although the transfer harness will be ugly"

Sound advice

But what i have seen is most people have just been selling the 8 and getting a 9RS...which is also not a bad idea.

Shortblock is similar, but IX has newer, stronger pistons.

So are the blocks the same are diff? If the blocks are the same then all we need is a complete head, engine harness, and ecu and Malibu Jack to show you how to change the immobilizer code in the ecu.
