Would a broke rear axle with a busted abs ring stop the ACD from working???
When i broke my rear axle the car moved down the track real slow than the abs light came on and then it stop moven. Than the acd lights all three lit up. Now im wondering if the one axles busted in the rear with the abs ring broke would cause the piston in the ACD to not engage the clutch packs?
Ive called AMS and there not sure and we've talked to Shep and hes not sure
Any help would be great!

What we want to know is if it would burn up the ACD. I have a ACD diff here I took apart that was towed wrong and it burned the crap out of all the clutch disc. I know on a VC style not ACD it has a vicous which is more of a fluid thing that makes it grab so it wont just burn up but the ACD seem to be clutch packs like a AT tranny which I think could burn up.
So does anyone know if we tried real hard to go with a broken axle and were spning the ACD clutchs hard if it would burn it up?
We will find out when we pull his tranny but a heads up would be nice.

i do believe that a broken axle will cause the acd to stop working.
same with the other, if towed wrong the clutches will get messed up, some not very badly but still messed up all the same.

I have a ACD from the dealer were it was towed for 15 miles . We pulled it apart and all the clutch packs were fried and the oil stuck to high heaven

Funny thing i noticed,
Well i was doing a Coilover\trail arm bushing\Rear bump steer bushing install yesterday, During the install the wrench slipped from my hands and cracked the left rear ABS sensor. Yah i know expensive mistake, But what i noticed was after everything was together i drove the car to see how the Coilovers worked i noticed the 3 ACD lights were on also with the ABS light. After seeing that i quickly parked the car and looked under the hood to see ACD fluid levels. I saw that the fluid level is right where it is when the car is off and parked for a long period. I usally see a slight fluid level drop when the car is on and has moved a bit. This is telling me that the ACD pump must not be pumping. This also means that the ACD system is getting input from the ABS sensors..at least to me.
So yah to be on the safe side im not going to move the car untill the new sensor is installed. Yah i dont want to know the long term effects if driven without the ACD pump...if it matters at all.
Hope that helped a bit.

Crazy stuff!! somewhat of a similar story with me. I hit the curb kinda hard with my rear drivers side wheel and couple of those little teeth thingy's broke off and my abs went retarded for the first 3 minutes of driving until (everytime i started the car) the abs light turned on, so i replaced the axle. All is good now..

damn! that exciter ring on the axle was eaten bad!! when the end snapped, it might have taken out your rear BAS sensor, check that out. If the Abs sensor is bad, the ACD still mgiht not work.
