Cutting the Cat O2...

While installing my buddies TBE we had to cut wires to the Cat O2 Sensor because it melted itself inside of the cat. My question is this. If I get a Cel. eliminator, or something like that, and wire it in, will the check engine light come on? I know allot of people had to do this so chime in on what you did to make the light go away. I personally have my O2 sensor with the cel. elim, & it works fine, no check engine light. My friends Evo drives perfect also, we have the same mods, except he has the E-bay exhaust & I have Perrin, we are dead even when we race.

Another option is the C-reader from ebay. I am catless with the wideband in the stock rear O2 bung. No CEL but I run around with the C-reader plugged in 24/7 unless logging.

code reader gets annoying get a test pipe that has the 02bung or you can get them and weld it in yourself. trust me its worth it to be able to get in start up and drive compared to watch the code reader for a mil to come on. do it right the first time and you wont have to do it a second time.

Thanks for the replys. Let me reiterate that the O2 sensor is cut/gone, all thats left is the 4 wires. So if I wire in a cel eliminator, say from perrin, will it kill the cel light? Im very skeptical of this working honesty, any other people that have done this chime in. The new 02 sensor cost 300$ from mitsu & I cant justify paying that just to not have a cell light.

Not sure since you're saying the sensor is not even attached, that can't be good. I don't think the cel eliminator will even work now.

my rear o2 sensor is completely cut out. I'm just using an ebay O2 sim, works fine and was $25. Its the baker electronix one with heater resistor.
