XSPOWER(ebay) intercooler, I bought it...

First impression, looks like a nice piece. A little heavy, but it is a ton bigger than the stock IC. Its the new 4inch model with lower/upper ic pipe thats all over ebay.

Install- sucked. Still not even on the car yet. I had to bend the top bracket myself to get it to bolt up. Once I got it on I had to convince(swear at) the stock ic hoses to flex and fit right. After I got it on I took it for a quick spin with the bumper off. Now my car already had the crash bar removed at some point, and trust me, it wont fit with this piece. Car pulled nice, couldnt tell any sotp diff yet due to 25mph limits and i was only on side streets.

So I get home and I can't get the front bumper back on, its gonna need some serious trimming.

SO FAR, I still feel that for under $200 to my door its worth it. After I get this bumper back on Im gonna run my friends wrx again and see how it goes.

The welds look good, one minor ding on the end tank, and its scuffed a few places but you'll never see it behind the bumper.

Car is basically stock. Just a K&N and adapter, and now this IC. TBE is on the way.

the stock clutch is good for 11's...i would have done TBE first and maybe a MBC..not a outrageous intercooler that barely fits and a intake

^^^ I assume you meant stock IC?

Yeah, agree with above - no need for aftermarket (note I didn't say upgraded ) intercooler when you don't even have the basics - TBE, mbc, etc. The majority of the Evos on this board are running the stock IC and putting down 310-340 to the wheels. At your current power level, I'm sure the stocker IC will be plenty.

I expect your dynograph to show at the most your car gaining 2-5whp at the topend, while loosing some spool...

Keep in mind, you also just added a 10lb dumbbell to the very front of your car - guys are paying hundreds for carbon fiber pieces just to save 10lbs here and there...

i feel bad everyone is bashing you...look at the bright side...the cooling is there for now...10lbs really wont make a differnce........having a fat chick in ur back seat...is a differnt story...

get a mbc and exhaust.

Well I do have a MBC, but its set at 19, and a wal255. The TBE and o2 housing is coming, and I only weigh 160, so I wont cry about the added weight of the intercooler up front. Sorry if Im not following everyone elses upgrade path, the car was heavily f'd with before I got it and they tried to get it back to stock. So Im slowly getting it to where I want it. Its still on snow tires!

I just wanted to throw out my first impressions of the unit(visually). I wont have any way to seriously test any results, except my a$$.

Im going to attempt to get the bumper trimmed up today. And I'll try to get some pics together.

I've thought about getting the IC from ebay, didn't think it would have so many fitment issues, but hey for the price can't complain to much.

Well the fitment issues aren't major, just a little hassle. It is a 4in thick core though, I guess you cant expect it to drop right in.
