ARC intercooler fitment information

Hi All,

Just thought I would share some info on fitting the ARC intercooler to the EVO. This pertains to the 073W model that I have. I don't know if it also pertains to the 073 and 079 standard size also.

The stock intercooler pipes, according to my measurements are 2.36" (60mm) OD. The outlets on the ARC intercooler are also 2.36" (60mm) OD. I believe most all American aftermarket replacements are 2.5" (63.5mm) OD. I measured my Nisei IC pipes and my RMR IC pipes - both were 2.5" (63.5mm) OD.

What does this mean? Normally the stock IC hoses stretch enough that they will fit a 2.5" pipe, although it will be a tight fit. Unfortunately, they are about 6" long and have a 45* bend. With the shape of the 073W ARC intercooler outlets - you need a 3-4" long straight coupler. The ones that come with the ARC unit are so tight that they will not stretch over a 2.5" pipe. Here is what you will need:

http://www.hosetechniques.com/catalog_search.tpl
(2) -- 51.238/250-300-110 (black 2.38"-2.5" transition coupler, 3" long)
(2) -- 60.283 (t-bolt clamp for 2.38"OD pipe)
(2) -- 60.295 (t-bolt clamp for 2.5"OD pipe)

Of course you can get them in other colors, but I chose black to match my gloss black IC pipes The moral of the story - measure your IC pipes with a caliper before ordering your silicone couplers!

i'm thinking about purchasing an arc. did you get a good deal? did you have to do any trimming anywhere to make it fit?

I got it 2nd hand. I traded my stocker + cash for it. It won't be installed for 2-3 weeks, but when I get the car finished I will post up some pictures. . .

Also, I am using it with the Voltex front bumper, so fitment won't necessarily transfer to the stock bumper. .
