E85/Methanol Vs Race Gas Results!

So today we got a bug up our rear and tried out some race gas.
So we stuck in some c-14 120 race gas in and did some test vs E85 with Methanol

1) Same Dyno
2) Same boost (37psi)
3) We could only go 8 degrees of timing vs 14 on E85 and Meth
4) Only thing we have done since the first dyno pull were we hit 712whp is we had the pistons coated and put in the new AMS head studs (L-19)

Race Gas at 37psi Temp was 65deg

Now here is the Dyno sheet using E85 with Methanol
37psi

As you can see that E85 flat out makes more power.

What we did later on in the day was ran the race gas with methanol coming on at 20psi and added another 1 deg of timing. The car felt awesome but we didn't get any dyno off the meth and race gas tune just our good ole butt dyno

Here is a small run down of some of my mods in my sig

Wanted to thank Lucas at English Racing for the time today and John Reed with RREV Motorsports for the awesome tune!

Wow, simply amazing. I wouldn't of thought. That thing has to eat fuel on E85!

I would love to have something like that to try to tune

Those timing quotes - 8 and 14 - where?

I know the car doesn't have a distributer with vacume advance and straight 14degrees or 8 degrees

Thanks

Is this still E70? Or have you gotten true E85 in?

Also, since your fuel system is safe for E85, have you thought about pre-mixing the E85 and meth, and just filling the tank with the mix? Instead of E85 in the tank and injecting meth, just run E85 and meth straight from the tank.

I have a modded Sureflow Pump at it runs about 280psi under boost. It flows thru 2 M-10 jets. For awhile all i could see is a big meth cloud behind me when i got on it than one day i heard a big freaking boom! LOL my Magnus intake had exploded all the seams around it had split wide open... It even blew up my hood vent

So i had JR at Extreme Turbo Systems weld up the manifold and than we went to one M15 jet and had the meth come on around 20psi instead of 10psi

But meth flat out makes me nervous in LARGE amounts

Ive been running true E85

Yea meth is a HUGE liability especially at your power level.

Ok, I remember when you had got your car tuned the first time on the corn squeezin's that you had used E70, I was curious what the difference was compared to E85.

I would think you would actually have mess meth on board. Since one tank of meth usually lasts longer than a tank of gas. I dont know if there's any reason why you couldn't pre-mix it. But it would seem like a lot less to worry about, as long as you could keep the ratio of E85 to meth consistant with the original tune.

Wow! It seems that you spool faster with the E85/meth as well... Awesome job

Alright cool, if it's possible, I would feel a lot better about using meth. Not having to worry about the nozzle working loose, the pump failing etc.

I pm'd Dave Buschur, so I'll see what he says about it.

Besides keeping the mixture consistant, the only other issue I could see would be if one of them is heavier than the other and would settle at the bottom of the tank.

That's got to be a great feeling being able to make this much power on "pump gas" and meth. More like "pimp gas"
