Urgent - Cam Installation Question

I am in the middle of my installation using evomoto.com as a reference. I have the new set of cams all in, the timing marks lined up (atleast as close as possible) and I have a question about an allen key that was put into the tensioner.

In a earlier step of the setup you put a allen key when they line up, exactly where in the process do you take this out? Before you turn the crank twice? Or afterwards?

Just pull it out, then turn the motor. But I don't think you will have a problem leaving it loose.

Actually, I think you leave it loose, this way you can see when the timing marks line back up.

The allen key is taken out after all the marks are correctly lined up and the tensioner pulley is set. After setting the tensioner pulley, install the compressed auto tensioner with the allen key and torque the auto tensioner bolts. Spin the crank 2 complete revolutions clockwise and remove the allen key from auto tensioner. Let the engine sit 15 minutes and try inserting allen key back into the auto tensioner. The key should slide easily into the hole. If the key is hard to insert or does not insert at all - the tensioner pulley will have to be readjusted.
Before fooling with the auto tensioner, make sure you have ALL timing marks correctly lined up. There is no room for "close". The marks have to be properly allinged before attempting adjustment of tensioner pulley and installation of auto tensioner. I suggest ordering the cheap ebay shop manual disk if you don't know exactly whats going on. The factory manual gives tons of info and will take you step by step. It's a really valuable tool to have around. If you have any more questions feel free to ask, I'll try and help the best I can.

The smallest amount the marks can be off is one tooth. And that's a huge amount.

I would not turn the motor over at all without the tensioner being extended (grenade pin pulled). It makes no sense anyway, the marks won't all come back to alignment without the belt under tension. Once the marks are lined up, pull the pin, and give it a few rotations and check the marks again. Give it a few minutes and check the tensioner gap.
