06 MR tranny fill/drain hole?????

Is the tranny fill/drain hole of an 06 mr different from the evo 8??? I am in the process of changing my tranny fluid to BF sychroshift II and i was going off EvoMoto's how to but it looks different. Is both drain plugs 10mm allen key??? Please let me know.

10mm allen key is correct. I disagree with the use or syncroshift, though.

Thanks bro. Why do you disagree? I rather try it to see how it differs then the stock fluid.

Careful with the fluid. Better do some searching on this forum about that. I think the tranny and especially the WARRANTY are very specific on which fluid to use. I think the evo community at large recommends the factory fluid.

stock fluid is designed for the loads that the tranny will pursue, use stock fluid is really good also it will keep youre warranty in stand

use the oem mitsu diaqueen 6spd gear oil, not the lsd diaqueen that is red lettering, the black lettering diaqueen is what you need

I just stopped at the DS and they only had the 6spd trans oil in 5 gallon buckets...

It is the Diaqueen 75W-85

I haven't swapped the Trans fluid yet. I did the front differencial and the rear TC, those both take different fluids too.

I haven't looked for the drain/fill plugs on the trans though, so I'd be interested if someone could confirm the locations he has circled above.

I would consider staying with stock fluids though. Diaqueen stuff is really top knotch and it'll keep your warranty in good standing. Unfortunately it is three times the cost of the synchroshift.

yes, those are the locations. and yes, it's a 10mm allen. the tranny in the 06 is the same as the one in the 05. and definitely don't use any fluid that's not 75-85 GL-4 in your 6-speed. the manual is very stringent on an EXACT equivilent to the stock fluid which is 75-85 GL-4.

That is absurd, it comes in a white one gallon rectangular/square can and it typically cost $48 at the dealership(the the one gallon). I doubt it would come in 5 gallons since the MR takes 2.3 quarts.

I have one on my garage on hand right now.

But I am not calling you liar, I am just saying it is very odd. Are you sure the dealership knows what they are talking about? there are tons of wanabee in the parts department.

Jason,

I have used both(oem fluid) and GMshyncromesh. I start hitting the track on my MR since almost 2 most after I got it and I use to have a lot of issues grinding gears at first and bnot being able to shift while reving the car hight.

After I put GMshyncromesh all the issues went away. It work for me so that is why I don't want to start a controversy with other MR owners because maybe they had more luck with the oem so just take my opinion as a personal opinion and not a general opinion.

actually the OEM diaqueen super multi gear for the 6-speed lists at $85 and even at spins4 discount price is $69. i'm not sure how much is in it, looks to be the same size as the diaqueen LSD oil container though.

You are very correct indeed, for a moment I was thinking of the diaquen. I recently got the one galon of tranny fluid for about $70 and the transfer case fluid was around $48.

Good catch Hondafan
