Whomever told you that "Mobil1 isn't that good" is not very knowledgable. I challenge you to go to any forum for ANY turbo car and find me a group of people who aren't using Mobil 1 synthetic due to quality issues.

My Evo is my fourth turbo car, and will ALWAYS get Mobil 1 synthetic.

Mobile 1, like most full synthetic oils, is more than adequate for your EVO's lubrication requirements. Follow the owner's manual recommendations for correct viscosity index for your ambient temperature range, ensure it meets the specified certifications, keep it topped off, and change it regularly.

Use mobil 1. Do some searchs for oil testing and I believe you will find that Mobil 1 is rated as high as any oil on the market.

Can someone tell me why Mitsubishi chose 10w30, when most of the European guys say at least 10w40? Hell, Claudius recommends 10w60.

I'll have to dig that tech info up. I know in Nissan the 30's are used in the states and 40+ used in other countries because of gas mileage. The heavier oil slightly reduces gas mileage although it offers suppieor protection.
