Unhappy My EVO is sick

Hey guys,

My car has been sounding really bad these past couple of days. When it idles, it sounds likes something is sort of "clanking" under the hood. Whenever I push the clutch in, the noise goes away. I just had a clutch installed last month but I am not sure if it has anything to do with this. Also, right around 4500rpm's with the clutch engaged, the sounds comes back. It sounds like something is vibrating against something else. It doesn't sound good, at all. Anybody have any ideas on what is going on here? I really hope I didn't break something expensive

~fred

Probably the driveshaft and exhaust leaning up against each other. Take a look underneath your car to make sure nothing is rubbing.

My throwout bearing makes a little noise when the clutch isn't engaged. I have almost the same clutch kit as you, just different a different pressure plate.

Sounds to me like a noisey throwout bearing. If the noise goes away when you press the clutch in, this is most likely the case.

My TOB makes a little noise at idle but nothing crazy. Sounds like you may have a problem on your hands.

Are you having any problems with shifting? Engagement?

I figured it was the throw out bearing also. When I had the radio off, I'd hear it and it used to freak me out also....til I read up on it and found out it was normal.

Stop guessing or asking for an internet diagnosis...take it to someone that knows cars and have them listen to it.
Rule #1...never guess what the problem is.
Trouble shoot untill it's found.

TOB probably... Did they reuse the same one, or did a new one come in the kit?
