Upgrading to Evo 9 turbo...worth it?

I've been kicking around the idea of upgrading to the Evo 9 turbo. I have an 03 Evo with the 10.5 hotside, and was wondering if upgrading to the 9 turbo would have any benefits worth spending the money on the turbo and the install kit, or if should just save the money and get a bigger turbo....

Biggger turbo, well it all depends what your hp goal is and how much boost you want to run. .

IX turbo not worth it IMHO
At the very least go with an FP Green or BB 50trim

on a IX yes, on an VIII you need an install kit (like 150 bucks i think) but still very much a bolt-on

yeah dont waste your money on a slightly better turbo. Get some bang for your buck and go with the FP green or a 50 trim

The 9 isn't a bad upgrade if you are looking for 20 or so whp and get a deal on one. If you end up wanting more power, you can probably sell it for nearly what you paid for it if you got it cheap.

I did it, and it was WELL worth it. also, you DONT need the install kit. you just need the turbo outlet pipe (black) which is about $40 from the dealer.
the funny this was that i had actually made a little money installing the evo 9 turbo, with selling the evo 8 stuff.

The reason I asked is because I could get a deal on a 9 turbo, and sell my turbo or just the 10.5 because I know I could at least make my money back.

And thanks for the PN, that might come in handy.

I'll be doing this on Tuesday. Installing IX turbo, ported ex manifold, a SS O2 housing, and a retune. I've been quoted numbers anywhere from 0-40 additional hp. Who knows what to believe. I'm counting on 20 and hoping for 40.

I was planning to do a 10.5 HS, but for a couple hundred more I got a nice low-mile used IX turbo from a fellow EvoM member. This board rocks!

I'll have before and after dyno numbers come Wednesday.

Yes, please do.

In all the IX turbo install kits, I see oil lines...you can reuse your lines from the 8 turbo? Aren't they routed different?
