Defi "Heads Up Display" gauges

Does anyone own or have seen any of the Defi's HUD (Heads-Up-Display) gauges? The concept is appealing, but how are they from practicality standpoint? How big is the actual display on the windshield? Is it hard to see? How difficult is the installation?

I am expecting to get the VSD II unit, which is the Tach/Speedometer (as well as their BF series boost gauge) in 2 weeks.

i had the heads-up boost gauge and timer in my previous car. it's not bad. although they give you a little piece of tint to stick on the windshield to see it better. i didn't put it on as it looked gay.
the display is very much visible at night...not so much on a sunny day though.

Do you want the HUD because the stock red-lit gauges are hard to see, or for safety or because they're cool?
How do you Evo owners like the stock gauges?
Are they difficult to see during the day in bright sunlight?
Has anyone successfully changed the color of the lighting for the speedo and tach?

i can't speak for the HUD on an Evo but I've seen it on a new Z06 and it's very helpful. To not have to look down to view the tach is very comforting and a lot safer.

the reasons for me are:
50% - Don't want to look down while racing
20% - stock gauges are to small
30% - "cool factor"

if you're looking to get the VSD which reads tach...i would suggest not to. i had that one as well and it just didn't read fast enough to use for racing. the boost gauge is pretty good though.
if you want something for tach...get yourself a shiftlite so you don't have to look down.

You're saying there was a delay in what the gauge displayed and the actual RPMs? If that's the case I will not get it. Let me know. Thanks

How big is the display size?

maybe i'm just not use to reading the tach display digitally...but i couldn't stand it... i don't think anything can beat a shift lite. it was about the size of an older beeper/pager.
