a 2.1 is a DESTROKED 2.4, not a 2.1 stroker....FYI

You should check with AMS. I know they've built some high power 2.1s.

"bump for some kind of responce, looks like I got one. Thanks for the info doesn't help much. do you have one/how do you like it ?

is it worth it? money to increase spool + rev higher or just go with a 2.2/2.3

slowboy carries a 2.1 destroked kit for $1600.

AMS sells the whole race 2.1 destroked block etc for $9000...now that would be the best route to go if money was no issue.same motor they have in the shop car i believe.

you can also go with the 23RR which is a 2.3L but revs like a 2.0L or $7500 from AMS...you get the high revs and torque.ive heard great things on that motor.

Now personally building a 2.0L would be a great route and cheapest.you can use stock crank.just pistons,rods,bearings,etc..and your pretty much done..

i am doing research on the 2.1L as well..Curt Brown was running the SBR 2.1L destroked when he made his record stock turbo pass i believe(10.4) as well..He eventually threw a bearing.

a 2.1 will allow a little more torque but the main attraction is that they can be spun upwards of 11-12k .

IMO it's a drag racing application. If i were you DUBY, i'd go with a 2.3
If you want i'll take you for a ride in mine and you can tell me what you think.

Would high revving power be better for autoX, or would 2.3L be better for autoX.

If you do get a 2.1L dont buy it built from slowboy dont even buy parts from them either. They are the worse vendor on here. They F***ed me over on my kit it took 4 months to get and they send the worng parts 3 times in a row and asked my shop to get the right parts then they would refund them. They have no clue what they are doing. Just slap some parts in a box and hope they work.

2.3 with the stock or one of the upgraded stock appearing turbos (green, 20g, etc....) would be the best autocross setup IMO

out of curiosity, how does adding only 0.1L of displacement for the $$$$ suddenly make such a big difference in torque and spool?

(disclaimer - I do not own a stroker - yet) - but I would think if you were going in this direction, you'd go for a 2.3L...

it's not about the torque and spool, it's about the fact that it's a shorter stroked 2.1 that can rev way higher than a standard 4G63 2.0.

so, in essence, it's taking a 2.4 4g64 and destroking it to allow for better high end rpm's?

but, it's still a 2.1, so why would it be able to rev higher than a built 2.0?

because even though the displacement is there, the engine uses a shorter stroke which enables it to rev higher. kinda like a ferrari v10 that revs to 8 or 9k. lots of cylenders, lots of displacement, short stroke, and lots of RPMs.
