with a good filter and most importantly, a catch can, it should stay relatively clean. without a catch can, i'd say at least every 10K. the problem is without a CC, the DV dumping into the intake splatters the oil residue in the pipe all over the MAF, so the CC helps tremendously.

can dirty/oily maf make car run like crap?

 

Yes big time I had some serious issues with my maf with extreme heatsoaking went to s.d and car woke up...Anything with the maf will make your run like *** either if its dirty,sitting to close to the fan or upper intercooler pipe,or etc etc..then maf in sjort words is a huge restriction expecially when you go big turbo..

 

if you cant find maf cleaner you can use electrical contact cleaner.
